Program Co-Coordinator 

Job Application


The Community Programs Co-Coordinators work to plan and deliver programs to youth and children at the Denman Community School, and provides support and assistance to Denman Island Community Programs in general. The Co-Coordinator reports to the Executive Director. There is up to 10 hours per week available for this role. 


Attributes needed:

  • Commitment to Community Education with an interest in developing programs.
  • Reliability, and ability to commit to a schedule that includes:
    • 1 evening per week, Friday Teen Night 7pm-10pm
    • a minimum of 2 weekdays, 2pm – 4pm
  • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong computer and organizational and planning skills 
  • Training and/or successful work experience in areas such as child education, adult education, community development, community education, health, justice, recreation, and social work
    • Experience working with and supervising all ages (children, youth, adults)
    • Must pass a current criminal record check
    • Must have or be willing to get First Aid/CPR training 


Specific Duties for the Co-Coordinator include: 


  • Deliver programming directly for children and youth, including spring/summer programs. This is to include Teen Night (4 hours per week) and at least 2 afterschool programs per term. 
  • Co-develop and follow proper procedures for booking and distributing programs that reflect community needs for a broad range of individuals and groups.
  • Co-Plan, produce and distribute brochures throughout the year for programs and special events with help of the Executive Directors.
  • Encourage community involvement in various ways and initiate special programs as determined by community needs.
  • Support school-based programs as requested by the Executive Directors.



  • Liaise effectively with the Co-Coordinator and Executive Directors in the planning, and implementation of programs. 
  • Liaise effectively with community groups on behalf of the Community School, and communicate in a respectful manner. 
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with teachers, school support staff, and Vice- Principal to ensure any conflicts are dealt with in a proactive manner.


Administration and Management

  • Organize or assist with special events, advertising, and programs.
  • Follow general office procedure, organization, file management, and tidying.
  • Monitor use of facilities by community user groups, ensuring that established protocols are followed.
  • Collect and receipt course fees and facility use fees.
