More details about each week of camp are below…
Week 1- Travel Around the World Camp: Take a spin around the planet without leaving the island! The first week of Summer Camp, we’ll be exploring food, games, music, and crafts from a different country each day. Whether we’re folding origami boxes in Japan or rolling a bocce ball across the Italian grass, we’ll talk a little bit about some of the traditions and culture of each place, and maybe read a story or two! Because this is Summer Camp, we’re going to focus on having fun first and learning second, but there will be lots of opportunities to expand our horizons.
Week 2- Theatre Camp: Are you ready to come out of your shell? Theater Camp is an exploratory week where kids will get the chance to practice their acting, dancing and singing skills through a range of fun activities. There will be lots of crafty options for kids who are more quiet and focused- set building, costume making and the like, along with lots of acting games and character building together for those that are feeling more outgoing. This camp has both structured and unstructured time, and lots of flexibility to make the camp reflect the interests of the group. At the end of the week we will have a talent show that welcomes parents & caregivers and the local community as our audience. We hope to see you there!
Week 3- Science Camp: From bridge building, to creating the perfect goop- we will delve into the mysteries of science through play and hands-on experiments together. We’ll be building, designing and experimenting our way through a range of big life questions. Expect to get messy and have a hoot with the kids of Denman. This camp will feature both structured and unstructured activities, with lots of room for the kids to bring their own interests and knowledge into the camp.
Week 4- Fantasy Camp: A chance to enter the world of magic and mystery. This camp will welcome the most curious of creatures into our world- from fairies, to Alice in Wonderland and a pack of pirates. You will like this camp if you enjoy welcoming magic into your life and building imaginative worlds. This camp will have both structured and unstructured aspects, with lots of room to shape the week based on the interests of the group.
Week 5- Carnival Camp: Modeled after an old-fashioned country fair, we’re going to be building and playing Denman versions of classic midway games and fun-fair competitions: Three legged races! Egg Tosses! Cake Walks! We’ll learn a little bit about Carnival traditions around the world and have the opportunity to make masks as part of our festive week-long party! There will be lots of time for crafting and free-play interspersed with more organized activities.
- When: July 4-Aug 4, Monday-Thurs, 2pm-3:30pm

Week 1: Board Game Building Camp (July 4th-7th)
Week 2: Chef Camp (July 11-14th)
Week 3: Pickleball Camp (July 18-21)
Week 4: Comic Book Making Camp (July 25-28th)
Week 5: Textile Arts Camp (August 1-4th)
Week 1- Board Game Building Camp:
Creativity + Competition = Board Game Building Camp! Have you ever wondered how board games are made? We’ll take a week to plot out the goal of the game, design the board (or cards), and build all the moving parts using recycled crafting supplies. We’ll play a few rounds of each of the kids’ designs to see how they work!
Week 2- Chef Camp: Get cooking! We’ll prepare kid-friendly snacks, healthy favorites, and maybe try out a Pinterest-friendly food project. Part nutrition, part science, and part pure mess, we’ll keep the kiddos well-fed while engaging in some fun learning.
Week 3- Pickleball Camp: If you come expecting pickles, you will be disappointed. Pickleball is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. A great way to exercise and build hand-eye coordination, we’ll work up a sweat while keeping cool in the Activity Center.
Week 4- Comic Book Making Camp: How do characters evolve? How are storyboards plotted? For four afternoons, learn the tricks of the trade and develop your own comic book from start to finish. We’re excited to have a skilled illustrator visiting with us for half the week who can guide attendees in deepening their illustration skills.
Week 5- Textile Arts: Sewing, weaving, fabric painting and collage! Soft textile surfaces offer endless opportunities for exploration and play. With a few special guest stars, we’ll be exploring inventive ways to create beautiful things from fabric and string.
