Sports Mash Up

All ages. Soccer, floor hockey, basketball and other sports will be played in different weeks. Community members will make guest appearances as guest coaches and teach technique and drills and games.

Date: Mondays, September 12 – December 5

Time: 2:30-3:30pm 

Cost: $20/semester


Kid’s Club 

All ages. One of our most popular programs, this program features free time in the gym along with free time in the craft room with all the Maker’s Space crafting materials. Please note: this program runs a bit longer than our other programs to allow for kids to become more immersed in their projects and world-building. Kids have access to all our gym equipment including: a giant parachute, gymnastic mats, scooters and sports equipment.

Date: Tuesdays, September 13 – December 6

Time: 2:30-4:00pm 

Cost: $20/semester

Creative Creations 

All ages. Together we will take care of the school garden and harvest food for the school’s lunch program.  As it gets cooler, we will move indoors for crafts and cooking, and when the weather allows we will spend time on the beach and in the forest.

Date: Wednesdays, September 13 – December 7

Time: 2:30-3:30pm 

Cost: $20/semester

Role Playing Games 

Grades 5-7. Dungeons and Dragons, and the many other role playing games it has inspired, is a group

story-telling activity where players come together to create fantastical characters and stories. Combining

improv, imagination, and team-building with simple arithmetic, role-playing games help develop

problem-solving and interpersonal skills in a safe, structured, and fun environment. Please note that this after-school program is two hours long.

Date: Thursdays, April15-December 8

Time: 2:30-4:30pm

Cost: $20/semester

All our after-school programs take place at Denman Island Community School.

Payments can be made via e-transfer to, or with cash when you pick up your child on the first day of programs.

Teen Night

Location: CAP Site – the portable next to the school 

Cost: $2 drop-in 




Parents’ & Tots’ Morning Out

Join us in a fun-filled morning with games in the gym, stories, crafts and snacks. This is a great way for the children to socialize, to be introduced to the community school and for parents to meet other parents. This is a parent/caretaker participation activity – all children must be accompanied by an adult. To be on our email list please send an email to

Our Food Bank is located at the portable next to the school. It is open every Thursday 4pm-7pm. The Food Bank is a welcoming space that does not require any paperwork from those who utilize it. 


We are happy to welcome a new team of DICES staff to the organization and the Community School! Sadie Gibbs and Jessica Schlegel are our new Co-ED’s and Taina Uitto is our new Program Coordinator. 

The month of September will be a transition period where you will see Katarina, Liticia and Emily at the school before they head off on new adventures.



Denman Island Community Education Society (DICES) is a non for profit organization that in partnership with SD71 offers a variety of programs and services they help  meet the specific educational, recreational and social needs of Denman Island.

We offer programs for kids, youth, families and adults throughout the year including summer camps, and after-school programs and make the school space accessible to the community.

During the school year we support the school through the school lunch program, the school garden and other special projects. 

We run the Food Bank and other food security programs and services as well as a computer access site. 

If you have ideas of programs that you would like to offer or attend please get in touch! We also have volunteer opportunities in our existing programs and contributing to the Food Bank, after-school programs or other programs is a meaningful and fun way to connect with your community.
